On Saturday 16 of the present month, when millions of Asian people were celebrating the Lunar New Year, the great majority of the members of the Macau Dominican Family gathered at our convent of St. Dominic, to inaugurate a Course on Dominicanism, a long-time dream finally come true.

The Course, that will be addressed mainly to our young people –men and women- on formation, contemplates 17 two hour encounters, and it will be the responsibility of the active participation of the students themselves –some 40 of them- and of the brothers and sisters more directly involved in the process of their formation. Different aspects of the life of the Order shall be treated, among them the Dominican Spirituality, the life of St. Dominic and the history of the Order (with special reference to the Order in Asia), some special documents, such as the Letters of the Masters of the Order; the testimonial life of outstanding, but not necessarily well known personalities of the Order, etc.

The event was particularly joyful and meaningful, not only because it is always pleasant –and convenient!- to know more and talk about our own history and mission, but also because of its familiar flavor and the interest shown by all, through their generous collaboration and interest, and their massive, unexpected presence at the class of inauguration.

The Course will as well facilitate, that once the class is over, we join in prayer, to sing our praises to the Lord, our Father.

Our most sincere and heart-felt thanks to all who made it possible, and then honored the occasion with their presence which is our joy. St. Dominic’s Convent. Macau.
